Herb Miller is Chairman and a co-founder of Spotlight Analysis and is a member of the Executive Committee. Mr. Miller is currently Chairman of Western Development. Previously he founded The Mills Corporation, a major developer of shopping malls throughout the United States. He is also a partner of the Democracy Alliance.

Robert Baskin serves as Chief Executive Officer of Spotlight, and coordinates our day to day operations with the assistance of a small staff. Mr. Baskin comes to Spotlight with a wealth of experience both in politics and market research. He has worked in the Congress, in the Executive Branch, in state and local politics, in non-profits, and in private business. At Yankelovich Inc., Bob was one of four people running this prestigious international market research firm. There, he played a leadership role in reestablishing the company’s core product, Yankelovich Monitor. In politics and government, Bob managed campaigns in his native Connecticut, and then became Chief of Staff to U.S. Rep. Sam Gejdenson (D-CT) and Minority Staff Director of the Committee on House Oversight. Bob later joined the Clinton Administration in the Small Business Administration, where he was Associate Administrator for Field Operations.

Donald Baer serves as a member of Spotlight's board. He currently is Vice Chairman of Burston -Marsteller and has had a career that has spanned the worlds of media, communications, politics, government, journalism and law. Previously, he served as the Director of Communications for President Clinton and with Discover Communications, where he was Senior Executive Vice President for Strategy and Development in charge of new ventures and acquistions. He is also a journalist, an award-winning writer, and an attorney.

Maria Echaveste serves as a member of Spotlight's Board. Maria is the founder of the Nueva Vista Group, a consulting firm that works with nonprofit organizations, associations and corporations on a wide range of policy issues. Currently, she is also a lecturer at the University of California Berkley’s Boalt School of Law and the Goldman School of Public Policy. From 1998-2001, she served as Deputy Chief of Staff to President Bill Clinton. She is a member of the Executive Committee of the Democratic National Committee, is a non-resident fellow at the Center for American Progress, and is a member of the Board of Directors of: People for the American Way, The American Prospect magazine, and CARE.

Beth Kaplan is co-founder and managing partner of Axcel Partners, a venture capital firm. Her previous career includes having been Senior Executive Vice President of Rite-Aid Corporation, Executive Vice President of Bath & Body Works, and President of the Noxell division of Procter & Gamble. She lectures at, and is a member of the Board of Overseers of, the Wharton School of Business. Ms. Kaplan is currently serving on the Board of Spotlight.

Benjamin Miller became President of Western Development Corporation in 2008 after joining the company in the early 2000 as a board member and then as COO. Under his stewardship Western Development has more than doubled in size, expanding projects under ownership and development to more than 3 million square feet. Ben brings a background in finance, private equity and green building technology. Prior to joining Western Development, Ben was a part of the founding team of Democracy Alliance, an investment partnership of business and philanthropic leaders, and was responsible for the think tank and leadership investment portfolios.

Mike McCurry is currently a principal of Public Strategies of Washington, where he advises a wide range of corporate and political clients. Previously, he served as Press Secretary to President Clinton, to the Secretary of State, the Democratic National Committee, and others. He is a veteran of numerous political campaigns. Mr. McCurry is a member of the Executive Committee of Spotlight.

Bill Titelman is one of Spotlight's co-founders, is currently serving as General Counsel and Vice-Chair of the Board of Spotlight and is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. Mr. Titelman is a partner in the law firm of Grant & Eisenhofer P.A.. His previous career includes having been Executive Vice President of Rite-Aid Corporation. He is a Co-Chair of the Finance Committee of the Democratic Governors Association and a member of the National Finance Board of the Democratic National Committee.

Gloria A. Totten is the founder and president of Progressive Majority, a national multi-issue organization dedicated to recruiting and electing progressive champions at the state and local levels. Progressive Majority has elected 375 progressives to office, and helped flip control of six state legislative chambers, 40 local governments, four statewide positions and one statewide government.  Under Gloria’s leadership, Progressive Majority has recruited and elected progressives in Arizona, California, Colorado, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Washington and Wisconsin. Gloria has managed independent campaigns for more than 75 congressional races.  She served as Political Director for NARAL from 1996-2001, Executive Director for Maryland NARAL from 1993-1996 and, prior to that, worked as a political and community organizer for many campaigns and organizations in her home state of Minnesota. Ballot Initiative Strategy Center and Brave New Films.  She serves on the board of directors for Spotlight Analysis and she is an advisory committee member for the Drum Major Institute Scholars Program, ProgressNOW, Wellstone Action and the Women’s Information Network.  Gloria was named a “Rising Star of Politics” in 2002 by Campaigns & Elections magazine and was awarded the “Progressive Champion Award” by Campaign for America’s Future and the “Progressive Leadership Award” by Midwest Academy in 2006.

Bryan Whitaker is the Director of Field Information Services for the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) with responsibility for overseeing SEIU’s targeting operations for internal and external organizing and outreach. In 2008, Bryan oversaw the design and implementation of SEIU’s member and general public voter contact programs, which resulted in 3,571,955 door-knocks, 16,539,038 phone calls, and 5,125,378 pieces of targeted mail. Before joining SEIU's national staff in 2005, Bryan was a Regional Field Organizer for the Sierra Club’s National Forest Protection Campaign in the Southern Appalachian Eco-Region. During the 2004 cycle, Bryan was a field organizer on the John Kerry for President Campaign in Iowa, Michigan and Ohio. Bryan serves on the Management Committee of the SEIU Communications Center, the Advisory Board of the New Organizing Institute and the Board of Directors of Spotlight Analysis. He is a proud native of Dayton, Ohio and graduate of the University of Dayton.

Josh Gotbaum co-founded Spotlight and was CEO during its first year. During the Clinton Administration, he held senior positions in the Office of Management & Budget in the Executive Office of the President, the Treasury and the Department of Defense. After September 11, Josh was the founding CEO of The September 11th Fund, a $500+ million charity. After that, he led and managed the successful reorganization of Hawaiian Airlines as its Chapter 11 Trustee. Josh’s business experience also includes 13 years as an investment banker with Lazard Freres & Co., working in North America and Europe.
